How To Clear Your House Of Allergens
Allergies are typical among children and adults. Allergens or allergy triggers can be seen everywhere. Parents who have a history of allergies need to be extra careful with their young children due to the fact that they may also have allergy symptoms. At times it might be difficult to determine triggers particularly if you are exposed to a number of possible allergens at a time. Although it may be correct that we cannot control allergy triggers outdoors, there is much that can be done at home.
If possible, choose low pile over high pile carpeting since things that trigger allergies can very easily accumulate on carpeted floors, and vacuum cleaners cannot get rid of the allergens completely. Hardwood and linoleum flooring is recommended because it is much easier to get rid of dust mites and dander as compared to carpets. Do not let a family member with allergies do the vacuuming because it may trigger allergy symptoms. An ideal vacuum cleaner is the type with a HEPA (high efficiency particulate) filter. Poor filtration vacuum cleaners may only stir up and release contaminants in the air. Ground rugs should also be washed at least once weekly, to decrease the chance of the build up of allergens.
Molds can build up in the kitchen area because of moisture. Dishes ought to be washed daily, and sinks including faucets, ought to be scrubbed to get rid of molds. Check your refrigerator routinely for mold formation. Wipe dry any spills and moisture, to prevent development of molds. Ensure that you toss food items that are out of date. Appropriately discard food wastes in receptacles so it will not be invaded by insects. It is also great to check the pipes for leaks simply because it can also promote development of molds.
Scrub your tub and faucets routinely. Mold may also thrive on shower curtains so it is ideal to change them often. If you can, paint your bathroom walls with mold resistant enamel paint. An exhaust fan can also significantly assist in minimizing moisture in the bathroom.
Heavy curtains are not advisable because it enables accumulation of dust, and they are hard to clean. Vertical blinds are much better because they can be easily cleaned. Other options include roller blinds and shutters. If you seriously need to use curtains, you can choose washable types which are easier to clean.
Beddings should be washed once weekly, with a water temperature of at the very least 130 degrees Fahrenheit to kill dust mites. Place mattresses and pillows in allergen-impermeable covers. These could prevent dust mites and other particles to enter. Plastic or vinyl covers may be utilized and they are less expensive, but some people may find them uncomfortable. Avoid using wool blankets because they may not only trigger allergies, but they are also good dust collectors. Upholstered furniture could also harbor allergens, it is then best to prefer wood, leather or plastic material kinds.
It will also help if you lessen the clutter in your home. Avoid accumulating magazines, books and ornaments because it can only gather dust. Try to organize the items you have at home. Store your kids's toys in plastic storage containers with cover. When cleaning the house, use gloves and a mask, in order to prevent an allergic reaction. It is also best if you use wet cloths when you wipe away dust. A dry material will not be able to absorb dust well.
Try to avoid having too many plants inside the house because these may also set off your symptoms. It may also be wise not to have pets because they shed allergens in their sweat and saliva. If you already have pets, do not let your pet enter the bedroom. Give your pet a bath at least two times weekly because it may lessen the amount of allergen that they shed. Filters on the air conditioning and central heating units must additionally be cleaned at least once a week.
A cleaning regimen in the house can greatly help in cutting down allergens. Some areas in your house may be hard to modify like flooring and ventilation, however there are simple steps that may be taken, in order to create a healthier home for your family. After all, allergy symptoms should in no way be taken lightly simply because reactions may vary from different causes.

do different color siberian huskies put off more or less dander?
i've always had black and white huskies in a one/two bedroom apartment and just adopted a copper/red and white husky. it seems like i'm getting allergic reactions. i'm definetly allergic to cats, but never my dogs. i currently live in a one bedroom apartment with three dogs, two huskies and a lab. could it just be that the third dog(copper husky) may have put me over the top and now i'm feeling the effects? if so, what can be done to combat the dander. air filtration systems or allergen type vaccums? with cats i know right away, but when i'm home with my dogs i sometimes sneeze and have dry eyes. before you give me some smartass answer about the living situation, i will have you know that my dogs get in about 20 miles a week in running/mushing and plenty of play at the dog park.
It's more likely just overexposure to dogs and you're discovering you have a mild allergy to either pet dander or dog hair. Coat color doesn't affect shedding or dander, though coat type might. If one of your huskies is long-haired there may be more dust and dander present. If the huskies are possibly of mixed breeding that may also influence how much they shed and how much it affects you.
In the mean time pick up some claritin or something and see if that helps, or ask your doctor what you can do to ease symptoms.
